Intertrappean Beds New Site Located

Prof.M.S.Katti and Prof.S.G.More of SP College, Madgaon had visited our department on Bench Marking Programme for three days (12th to 14th April 2011). As a part of this visit, today morning, we visited a DVP & Proterozoic formations (about 0.4 km from Deshnur Cross on Belgaum-Bagalkot road, circled area shown in Google Earth image ), guided by Prof.Katti. This is a new site of Intertrappean beds with shell fragments of lamellibranch, micro-gastropod shell and other unidentified shell fragments. The trap bed is mainly a Grit with rounded-well rounded grains (fluvial/channel deposit). The rock shows cross bedding too. The preliminary report has been communicated to CS.

We are organising Karnatak University Dharwad, Zonal Youth Festival at our College on 19-20 Nov 2010.

I had taken Sagar Waghmare for a reconnaisance survey for his M.Sc. Dissertation to Khanapur. Suresh and Rajesh also accompanied us. We visited Shri.Joshi's Ceramic Industry and on the way, we visited Bhoothnath Hill.
